Lunching of Dhaka Custom House Automation Project

Dhaka Custom House Automation implementation begins from Sunday, 24 May 2009 aiming to provide a hassle- free environment for businessman in their export and import activities. The automation project of Dhaka Custom House was inaugurated by Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith in a function at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel. Commerce minister Lt. Col (retd) Faruk Khan was the special guest at the function with Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) Present Zafar Osman the chair. Besides, Annisul Haq. President of FBCCI, Mahboob Zaman, Managing Director of DataSoft Management Services, Manjur Mahmud Chief Operating Officer of DataSoft Management Services, James Crittle, Head of BICF, Dr. Nasir Uddin Ahmed, Chairman of NBR, Hossain Khaled, former President DCCI and MS Shekil Chowdhury also spoke on the occasion.

Mahboob Zaman, Managing Director DataSoft Management Services, says in the inauguration ceremony that through the aforesaid Public-Private Partnership we can take many large projects. We actually want to change our system. We want our recognition. From now we won’t be champion in corruption, but on creativity and innovation. Digital Bangladesh will change the total view of Bangladesh – Branding will be created. Dhaka Custom House Automation is just the beginning of that digitalization and transparency. Let us all participate and bring change in the Land, Tax, Administration, Electricity, Gas and all over. Since the responsibility of changing the system is not only to the Government – but to all of us.

In his speech Manjur Mahmud said that this automation will save time for each stakeholders by reducing step drastically by about 80%, reduce Cost of doing business by about 70%, improve internal and external productivity, ensure accountability and transparency. He also added that DataSoft is the first company to build a system truly online Customs System, first company to collaborate to build IT system for 14 different stakeholders, first company to manifest the capability of the local talent. Finally, this project is a Manifestation of the slogan “ WE CAN DO IT” Last but not the least, we can built digital Bangladesh by putting a label “VERY WELL MADE IN BANGLADEH” as our sponsor calls it “The best of Bangladesh is business”
