“Public-Private Partnership (PPP) is a sustainable way to implement IT and ITES projects in Bangladesh: A case study of Dhaka & Chittagong Custom House Automation Projects”
Chittagong Custom and Dhaka Custom House Automation is the first Public Private Partnership (PPP) initiative in Software industry. Public-private partnership (PPP) has become a buzzword in infrastructure development efforts in Bangladesh. Though Public Private Partnership (PPP) is a sustainable way to implement IT and ITES projects, it’s a Long, Rigorous and Complex process. Both the automations have been the solid example to implement the concept into other ITES projects. To uphold these two projects, government did not require paying a single penny from their exchequer. The money was raised from the private stakeholder and financing organizations. Through the implementation of PPP in ITES industry, the software company can be transformed to Multi Year Service Provider. But it’s not easy to get the job done. The companies face lots of problem during initiation and implementation of projects. The barriers comprises are:

- Fear Losing Authority
- Insufficient budget for automation
- Inadequate Infrastructure
- Lack of efficient IT professionals
To overcome the barriers, the IT industry needs a big budget to go further. Finally, the popularity of PPP in IT/ITES is on the rise. Many southeast and East Asian countries have extensively used this. Now it’s time for Bangladesh to utilize the full motions.
